Horizontal Whirlygig
![]() |
The Horizontal Whirlygig is a primarily pieced together accumulation of leftover found materials. A stripped down ceiling fan/light fixture sits atop half of the cover guard from an oscillating fan. Multi-colored whirlies take the place of fan blades and a red light bulb is covered with the metallic gold painted, domed, pin-holed innards of an early 60's portable hair dryer. The whirlies are longer than those on the Vertical Whirlygig, and therefore the sound is lower pitched (sort of a sideways baritone version).
This piece is part of the "They Played Themselves" installation.
